Leasing and Facilities

Shared Services of Alaska Leasing and Facilities program manages separate aspects of the Executive Branch's office procurement and space management needs. This program coordinates with the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) to manage the maintenance, operation, and capital improvement projects of the facilities established under the Alaska Public Building Fund (PBF)

Leasing Overview

The Leasing program is responsible for evaluating, negotiating, procuring, managing, and administering leases and contracts for space from the private sector and State property owners on behalf of the Executive Branch. Our mission is to provide cost effective space for State agencies in a timely manner. Check out our services!

Facilities Overview

In FY18 the Facilities program began to transition maintenance, operation, and management of Department of Administration (DOA) state owned buildings over to the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF). Alaska Public Building Fund

In 2000, the 21st Legislature created the Alaska Public Building Fund (PBF). Under the PBF, Shared Services of Alaska Facilities program charges building occupancy costs (rent) to state departments and agencies, which is then deposited into the PBF. These proceeds are in turn used to cover the costs of use, management, operation, maintenance, and depreciation costs related to covered buildings. This self-generating operating budget provides for ongoing operations without necessitating a direct General Fund appropriation.

The careful management of the PBF has positively contributed to the operations of the State Executive Branch, mitigated or reversed the deterioration of key assets, and provided a dependable business structure for process improvements and location management.
